Palm & Sun made our honeymoon in Thailand absolutely unforgettable! From the moment we arrived in Koh Samui, everything was perfectly organized. The romantic dinners on the beach and private tours were magical. We felt so cared for every step of the way. Highly recommended!

THINGS TO KNOW
Frequently Asked Questions
Why visit Mustang, Nepal?
For its distinctive high-altitude deserts, centuries-old walled city, spiritual temples (such as Muktinath), remote monasteries, and cultural festivals like Tiji and Yartung. It’s a culturally immersive and visually stunning adventure.
Is Mustang worth visiting?
Absolutely. Mustang offers dramatic desert-like landscapes, rugged mountains, ancient monasteries (like in Lo-Manthang), and rich Tibetan-Buddhist culture. It’s unique, mystical—like stepping into another world.
How many km is it from Kathmandu to Mustang?
By road it’s roughly 600–700 km depending on the route. Many travelers fly to Pokhara or Jomsom first—then continue by road to reach Mustang.
How long is Mustang from Pokhara?
You can fly from Pokhara to Jomsom (about 25 minutes), then drive approximately 120 km to Lo-Manthang (about 4–6 hours by jeep).
Can Indians go to Mustang, Nepal?
Yes. Indian nationals can visit Mustang but must obtain a special restricted-area permit (same as other foreigners). This is mandatory for both Upper and Lower Mustang.
Which month is best for Mustang Nepal?
Spring (March–May): clear views, pleasant temperature (16–22 °C), and the Tiji Festival in May.
Autumn (September–November): crisp weather, clear skies, scenic views—widely considered the peak season.
Summer (June–August): although monsoon hits much of Nepal, Mustang lies in a rain shadow—making it surprisingly dry and lush. Ideal for off-peak travel.
Winter (Dec–Feb) is very cold (nights to –20 °C), many tea-houses close, and heavy snow makes trekking difficult.
Is there snowfall in Mustang, Nepal?
Yes, Upper Mustang sees snow mainly from mid‑December to mid‑February (and Lower Mustang from Nov to Jan/Feb). Some villages like Lo-Manthang can reach –20 °C at night.
What is Mustang famous for food?
Mustang is known for Khapse (festive Tibetan fried pastries), Thakali dal-bhat, local apple and apricot produce, and Mustang coffee—a local brew of coffee, butter, sugar, and raksi.
What permits do I need for Mustang?
Permits include the Upper Mustang restricted‑area permit (~US $500 pp) and standard trekking/trek insurance. Permits must be arranged in advance.
Is solo trekking allowed?
Thailand is a year-round destination, but the best time to visit generally falls between November and March, when the weather is cooler and more comfortable for outdoor activities. However, if you’re looking to avoid the crowds or get better deals, the shoulder seasons (April to June and September to October) are also great times to visit.
What are the main entry points?
You can reach Mustang by flight (Pokhara → Jomsom) or overland jeep from Pokhara or Kathmandu, plus trekking.
